Uninsured vs Insured Drivers in the United States

This chart shows the estimated share of insured and uninsured drivers in the United States. Out of roughly 215 million drivers, about 32 million, approximately 12.6%, were uninsured as of 2019. Estimates are based on insurance claim data analyzed by the International Rescue Committee, which compares claims involving uninsured motorists to those involving insured drivers.
