Pritzker again wants to cut standard income tax exemption

Gov. J.B. Pritzker cutting the promised standard exemption taxed each person on an extra $200 of income last year. He proposes taxing Illinoisans on an extra $225 of income this year. If state lawmakers accept his plan, it will cost a family of four about $45. It cost them $40 last year.

Standard exemption available to individuals earning less than $250,000 and married couples earning less than $500,000. A family of four under those limits would receive exemptions for each parent and child.
