According to a study released this month by the county’s human services department, there were 643 homicides in Allegheny County from 2016 through 2021. Data from the county medical examiner showed more homicides had taken place outside the city than in during this time period. However, homicides occuring in the city of Pittsburgh during the first six months in 2022 accounted for about 60% of the county’s total.
