Gender distribution: Care Workers vs Non-Care Workers

Women are over-represented among New York City care workers, many of whom are immigrants and people of color. A New York City American Community Survey found that 89% of care workers were women, a stark difference from non-care workers, who made up only 47% of the workforce.
