Democratic candidates in special elections have outperformed 2020 Dems since the Dobbs decision
Percentage of vote for Democratic candidates in special congressional elections under previous congressional maps.
Chart showing special election results in six congressional districts from June through August compared to congressional results and presidential election results from 2020. In the elections since the June 24 Dobbs decision, Democrats largely outperformed their 2020 margins.
Notes: Alaska's at-large special election was excluded as the top-four ranked-choice voting system renders partisan comparisons difficult. New York results are not yet final as mail-in ballots received within seven days of Election Day will be counted. NE-01 congressional results from 2020 are excluded because the special election was held under new maps. Presidential results match the map used for the special election.
