Beginning with the Road to Zero Deaths national strategy in 2009, an increasing number of efforts and jurisdictions have promoted the idea that the only acceptable number of traffic deaths is zero. The Vision Zero Network and the Road to Zero Coalition are two of the largest community-oriented efforts to reach zero traffic deaths and participation in both have increased in recent years.
