Notes: Income is derived from respondents' gross household income and grouped relative to the national median household income. Lower Income households report earning less than $ 49,999 per year and higher income households report and income above $150,000 per year. Middle-income households earn a yearly income between $50,000 and $149,999. Results based on survey of 2,194 higher-income Americans and 15,192 middle-and-lower-income Americans. “Prefer not to say” and “don’t know” income responses are excluded.
