Double trouble

The rise in automobile imports in the form of CBUs and CKDs could prove troublesome for the external account, as imports have risen 2x in the first six months of the fiscal year compared to the corresponding period last year. In terms of value, imports are surpassing their previous records with CKD taking the lead, as the market sees more car launches than ever before with growing variety in newer segments such as electric and hybrid vehicles.
