Since the start of President Trump’s second term, Philadelphia’s immigration court has had a 74% asylum denial rate, the highest since the start of George Bush’s administration in 2001. The Obama presidency saw the court issue its lowest rate of denials, 44%. Philadelphia’s figures largely track those of the nation, where Trump’s immigration courts have denied asylum at a 78% clip as compared with Obama’s 50%.
