The labour market participation of European immigrants in Spain varies according to their country of origin. The descendants of former Spanish emigrants show a sectoral distribution very similar to that of the native-born population, with a slightly higher presence in the manufacturing sector. Those from high-income countries are particularly prominent in the hospitality sector, professional services and private education, whilst their presence in the civil service is very limited. Meanwhile, immigrants from countries with a lower per capita income are concentrated mainly in construction, the hospitality sector and domestic service, and EU nationals in this group also have a notable presence in agriculture and transport.
