About the data: This graph presents a weekly average of congestion in Halifax. CBC received daily and hourly congestion data from Tom Tom for the months of March-May 2019, 2020, and 2021. Tom Tom assigns a congestion score which represents how much longer a trip takes as compared to a trip on empty streets. For example, a score of 11 means it took 11 per cent longer than it would have on completely empty streets. Tom Tom's geographic definition of Halifax covers the neighbourhoods of peninsular Halifax, Clayton Park, Spryfield, Bedford, Dartmouth, Burnside, and Cole Harbour.
