Fresno, Valley lag California in coronavirus vaccine rates

As the state reports COVID-19 vaccine distribution by region, the central and southern San Joaquin Valley – Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced and Tulare counties – have the lowest rate of doses given per 1,000 residents as of Jan. 17, 2020.

Almost 1.4 million vaccine doses have been given statewide as of Jan. 17. It is unclear how many of those represent second doses in the two-shot vaccine regimen.
