Regional Changes in Population

Philadelphia, Bucks, and Delaware Counties all lost residents in 2022. Philadelphia's loss on a percentage basis was over four times worse than its suburban neighbors. The city's population loss dragged down the population change for the region as a whole, had a 0.3% drop in residents.

Chester County posted the largest percentage gain from 2021 to 2022, followed by Gloucester County in South Jersey.
