Mexico Border Delays: 57% of the total $35M logistics cost impact across the $10B in trade is attributed to Mexico. The $20M reflects the additional logistics costs for Mexican firms (e.g., DHL) due to border delays caused by the 10% USMCA tariff on $3.5B in exports (auto parts, electronics). As noted in Part II, these costs stem from border congestion delaying 200 trucks/day, adding $300/truck, totaling $20M/month across affected shipments. US Tariff Mitigation: 29% of the total cost impact, or $10M, is attributed to the U.S. The $10M reflects logistics costs for U.S. firms mitigating tariffs, such as the 25% tariff on Mexican dairy imports costing $300M in 2025 exports. However, the U.S.’s higher on-time delivery rate (90% at Los Angeles ports) reduces costs compared to Mexico, as domestic production and efficient ports save $5M/month.
