Minnesota’s southeast bluff and hardwoods country and the transition zone between farmlands and forests have long been areas of highest deer numbers in the state. Some Deer Permit Areas within these regions also offer the highest buck harvest rates. Various factors contribute to this, among them the availability of high-quality food for whitetails and selective harvest by private landowners.
