Change in the percentage of the population with a college degree, 2004–08 to 2019–23

Note: The percentage of the population with a college degree is calculated for the population between the ages of 25 and 64. Data includes funding to institutions that received large NIH awards (greater than $50 million in a year). Funding per capita is calculated using year 2000 population by commuting zone from Opportunity Insights. Labor markets with increases greater than $26 per capita (the median increase among labor markets with increases) define the “large increase” group.
