China far outpaces US in lithium-ion battery manufacturing
Measured in terawatt-hours (TWh), China currently dominates global lithium-ion battery manufacturing capacity. By 2030, the US is projected to reach 1.03 TWh — still less than China’s capacity back in 2022.
From 2022 to 2030, lithium-ion battery manufacturing capability will grow from 0.11 to 1.03 TWh in the US, 1.2 to 4.65 TWh in China and 0.26 to 1.1 TWh throughout the rest of the world.
