Executions in Nebraska since 1976

In 1976, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down a landmark decision finding that capital punishment was not unconstitutional in all cases. The death penalty has been legal in Nebraska since, aside from a short window between the Legislature outlawing it in 2015 and voters reinstating it in 2016. Executions remain relatively rare in the state, even as more people are sentenced to death. Four people have been executed in Nebraska since 1976.
