Dates for consumer spending data are reported based on the start of the retail sales reporting week, which starts on Sunday. Consumer spending data corresponds to changes in weekly transactional dollar volume. E-commerce transactions are represented by ‘card not present' transactions recorded by Moneris. 'Card not present' transactions usually indicate e-commerce transactions, but in some cases may represent an in-store purchase. E-commerce transactions are attached to the location where the e-commerce merchant is set up for business. This would typically be the merchant’s head office, but could also be another designated physical location. Only Moneris-acquired credit and debit transaction data are included.
