In their first season under head coach Kevin O'Connell and General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, the Vikings went 13-4 and won the NFC North. A year later, beset by injuries, turnovers and a change of fortune in close games, they finished were 7-10, finishing third in the division and out of the playoffs.
