Basic weekly living costs on welfare payments
Three core living expenses account for the vast majority of welfare recipients' household budgets, Anglicare Australia has found.
Two pie charts show the amount of money spent by two people on basic weekly living costs. A single person on JobSeeker under 35 and living in a shared house spends $273 on rent, $151 on food and groceries and $120 on transport, leaving them with $127 remaining, while a single parent on the Parenting Payment spends $650 on rent, $248 on food and groceries, and $166 on transport, leaving them with just $24.
