But denying the uglier parts of our history also denies the heroism of Americans of all races who fought to right those wrongs. America is a great country not because we’re perfect, but because each generation has fought to perfect it.” [STATEMENT 2] “Republican politicians want the federal government to decide what’s being taught in local schools, but teachers should have the freedom to teach all of American history without Congress dictating lesson plans.”
