MBA Pay By Region: Southwest

The 2023-2024 hiring cycle was a mixed bag in the Southwest. In a mild upset, MIT Sloan graduates raked in the highest starting pay packages at $184,417, edging out Chicago Booth ($184,250) and the Wharton School ($181,958). In Sloan’s case, the average stems from 12 graduates in the Southwest, while Booth and Wharton placed 24 graduates each there. The Texas twosome – the McCombs School at the University of Texas and the Jones Graduate School at Rice University – produced the highest home-grown pay packages in the Southwest at $149,893 and $147,925 respectively. In both cases, they represented lower pay averages than the previous year – nearly $10,000 less in the case of McCombs. That said, both McCombs and Jones both reported a grad who earned $225,000 to start in the Southwest, though the largest pay package belonged to a Harvard MBA at $425,000.
