Coronavirus test positivity rates

The positive rate for COVID-19 tests in California was as high as 8.45% on July 25, but has fallen to 6.10% on August 2. A lower positive test rate suggests that testing is more widespread and fewer cases are going undetected. The World Health Organization recommends a positive test rate below 10%, while some of the countries most successful at battling coronavirus have test rates as low as 3%.

Rate shown is a 7 day lagging average from the date posted.
