Diesel prices nearing COVID-19 era highs 

Diesel costs reached their highest point in decades during the coronavirus pandemic, representing an increase of almost 78% since January 2019. Today's prices of $5.38 a gallon are on track to reach the record of $5.81 per gallon set back in 2022.
