The income categories used in the 1970 census and the 2017 American Community Survey do not align. We adjusted those categories for inflation using 2017 USD and aligned them approximately. Very low incomes are less than $13,600 (1970) and less than $15,000 (2017). Low incomes are $13,600-$33,899 (1970) and $15,000-34,999 (2019). Middle incomes are $33,900 - $47,499 (1970) and $35,000 to $49,999 (2017). High incomes are $47,500-$101,799 (1970) and $50,000-$99,999 (2017). Very high incomes are $101,800 or more (1970) and $100,000 or more (2017).
