Republicans most likely to dismiss congressional checks on presidential policymaking

In a survey taken between Feb. 14 and 24, 2025, 3,230 American adults were asked whether they agreed or disagreed with the statement that, regardless of who the president is, "the president should have the right to enact policies without having those policies voted on by Congress." One in four respondents neither agreed nor disagreed with the statement.

Of those who did have an opinion, strong majorities of self-described Democrats and Independents disagreed with that statement. Fewer than half of Republicans with an opinion said the same.
