DHS has spent $3.2 billion buying private immigration detention centers since July

The Department of Homeland Security bought seven detention facilities at five sites from GEO Group and CoreCivic between July and October, adding about 9,800 beds to federal ownership. Both companies continue to run the facilities under contracts with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
