*People aged 15 and older who, in the last 4 weeks before the survey, carried out at least one formal or informal voluntary activity. A person who looks after their grandchildren for 8 hours per week is included in the calculation of average informal voluntary work and for total voluntary work, but excluded from the calculation of formal voluntary work. The average number of hours for total voluntary work may, therefore, be smaller than the total averages for formal and informal voluntary work added together.
