U.S. counties with unhealthy soot pollution

The Environmental Protection Agency today set a more rigorous standard for fine particle pollution: 9 micrograms per cubic meter of air. The previous standard was 12. As many as 29 California counties could be out of compliance, according to EPA's 2020-22 annual design value data.
