Winnipeg dumps an average of 10 billion litres of sewage into its rivers every year

Combined sewer overflows and accidental spills release billions of litres of raw sewage and runoff into the Red and Assiniboine Rivers. The city plans to reduce overflow volume to about 2.9 billion litres annually.
