FEMA Site Vaccinations: More Diverse, But Not Yet Fully Representative of Philadelphia

While vaccine recipients were much more racially and ethnically diverse at the FEMA-run convention center site on Wednesday and Thursday, the numbers don’t yet fully reflect the city’s demographics.

In particular, non-Hispanic Black people, the city’s largest group, were still significantly underrepresented, making up 19.5% of vaccine recipients in a city where they are 40.1% of the population. Asian recipients were a disproportionately high share of the recipients.

Hispanic recipients are not double-counted in white, Black, Asian, or “other” categories.
