HISD would remove over a third of temporary buildings if Bond passes

HISD has 988 temporary buildings spread across campuses throughout the district. While many over-utilized campuses rely on temporary building space to accommodate students who cannot fit in existing permanent buildings, campuses like Las Americas Newcomer School are housed completely in temporary buildings. The proposed Bond includes plans to remove 351 of these temporary buildings across 32 campuses.

* Project Chrysalis Middle School is housed entirely in temporary buildings at Cage Elementary school. In HISD's records, the temporary classrooms for Project Chrysalis are recorded under Cage, and the temporary buildings are reported under Chrysalis.

Active temporary classrooms: Classrooms in temporary buildings that are used for instructional purposes. Campuses that show temporary buildings but no active classrooms serve students only within their permanent structures.
