Birmingham saw the most frequent taser use by West Midlands Police across seven force areas

Between April 2020 and December 2025, West Midlands Police recorded 3,891 Taser uses across its seven policing areas. Taser deployment was unevenly distributed across the force area, with use concentrated heavily in the largest urban centres—particularly Birmingham, which accounted for almost half of all recorded deployments. By contrast, substantially lower levels of Taser use were recorded in outer boroughs such as Solihull and Dudley. This distribution suggests that Taser deployment broadly reflects differences in population density, incident volume, and operational policing demand across the force area, rather than being evenly spread geographically.
