A Yes Vote to Support Medicaid Expansion is Undermined by a Yes Vote for a Harmful State Budget

After more than a decade of inaction by legislative leaders, the 2023 Legislative Session finally expanded Medicaid (HB 76)But its implementation was unnecessarily delayed and used as a tool in advancing a state budget that undercuts the well-being of all North Carolinians by underinvesting in priority areas like early childhood, a sound, basic education for every child, housing and environmental protection, not to mention the state agencies that administer health and human servicesThe state budget (HB 259) will also continue to cut income tax rates, diverting public funds to the wealthiest North CaroliniansThese actions will harm the well-being of people in our state now and into the futureWe are disappointed by those legislators who voted YES on the state budget and NO on Medicaid expansion.   We hope that in the future, legislators will prioritize the well-being of all North Carolinians to reach their full potential, not the interests of the wealthyBelow are the vote records of House and Senate members on the Medicaid expansion and final budget bills
