Pennsylvania is Still Mostly White, But Diversifying

Pennsylvania’s non-Hispanic white population decreased by more than 541,000, or 5.3%, from 2010 to 2020. White residents now make up 73.5% of the population, down from 79.4%.

The other racial and ethnic groups grew. The Hispanic population, for example, grew by nearly 330,000, or 45.8%.

Hispanic category includes Hispanic respondents of any race, while the others (except multiracial) are for non-Hispanic people of a single race. AAPI category combines Asian and native Hawaiian and other Pacific Islander categories; “other” combines American Indian and “some other race” categories.
