Businesses expect more frequent disruptions

Responses from the first round of the Supply Chain Disruption Survey, conducted in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Hungary in 2023–spring 2024, show that a considerable share of companies expect an increased frequency of disruptions affecting EU and non-EU suppliers.

The bar chart illustrates the expected increase in disruptions across all response options: quality problems, shortages of key inputs, natural disasters or extreme weather conditions, political intervention or disruptions with multiple causes. Expected increases ranged from 7 per cent for quality problems from EU suppliers to 45 per cent for political intervention affecting non-EU suppliers.
