More in US got SNAP benefits during COVID-19 pandemic
The average number of people in the U.S. enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program over the course of a year declined for several years, but that changed after 2019. It grew in 2020 and 2021 to nearly 42 million because of economic upheaval caused by the coronavirus pandemic and some policy changes. The total number of Americans enrolled in the program receded slightly in 2022.
