Most municipalities in the region experienced modest population growth between 2020 and 2023, with the Pennsylvania suburbs growing by 1.0% and South Jersey by 1.3%. Among the fastest-growing regions are the towns of Cherry Hill, Mount Laurel, and Evesham in South Jersey, which added more than 6,100 residents since 2020. Two of the regions with the largest population losses include the municipalities in Lower Bucks County and southeastern Delaware County. The overall region lost 0.2% of its residents, as growth in the suburbs was overtaken by the loss of more than 53,000 residents in Philadelphia.
