16 states Trump won would be impacted by funding cuts

There are 23 states that receive historically low levels of funding from the National Institutes of Health and are therefore eligible for Institutional Development Award funding – marked with diagonal lines in the map. Of those, 16 went for Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

In 2024, Maine split its electoral votes 3-1 for Harris; Nebraska split its 4-1 for Trump. Puerto Rico has no electoral votes.
