Cases Entering Alameda Criminal Court

This chart uses criminal cases, filed between March 2020 and the end of January 2021, to visualize general trends in the severity of incoming cases during the COVID-19 pandemic. Under Local Rule 411.5, more severe charges such as murder, rape, human trafficking and burglary do not qualify for zero bail. Less severe charges do.

This data is hierarchy based. Case totals reflect one offense (the top count on the charging document) per incident.
