Support for AfD: Fewer religious voters

The far-right Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party, which just won a historic election in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, consistently performed better with nonreligious voters in the state election this year and in the previous two cycles.

These results in Saxony-Anhalt, an especially irreligious state, are consistent with state elections elsewhere in Germany and a 2017 federal election following the AfD´s formation in 2013.
