COVID-19 Protections Slowed Evictions in New Hampshire

A writ of possession "is the court order that allows a landlord to have a tenant lawfully removed from the home," according to New Hampshire Legal Aid. As state and federal eviction bans were lifted, the pace of evictions has picked back up but still remains below levels seen pre-pandemic.

The CARES Act also imposed a ban on evictions in "federally related rental properties" between March and August 2020, according to the Congressional Research Service.
