Fentanyl’s role in opioid overdose deaths has skyrocketed

In 2013, the drug was involved in just 3% of overdose deaths in Allegheny County; preliminary data for 2022 shows a spike to 86%. Fentanyl is increasingly being seen in stimulants, such as cocaine, and masquerading as prescription pills, such as Percocet.
