Demographic Comparison of all NYC High Schools with Admissions Screens

Schools that screen students for admissions based on academics (including grades, state test scores, and attendance in 7th grade) or the SHSAT exam tend to serve far fewer Black, Latinx and/or low-income students than schools that screen only for ability in a language other than English.

NYC high schools with some or all unscreened programs are not included on this chart. For more details and methodology, read our full report on Screened Schools: How to Broaden Access and Diversity at centernyc.org/screened-schools.
