Spending on disability benefits is average for Europe

The UK spends just 3.2% of GDP on sick and disability benefits, according to the latest budget; just above the EU average (2.8%).
This makes up a higher proportion of total government spending (7.1%), but still well below Norway, Denmark and other nations.
