The Belleville News-Democrat has included information from the seven counties in the state's definition of the metro-east region, according to the "Restore Illinois" plan for a regional reopening of businesses, schools and activities that were not allowed during the coronavirus pandemic to help prevent the virus from spreading. Data from the metro-east and Illinois' southernmost counties will determine when all of southern Illinois reopens.
