Selected National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Funding

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration provides funding for non-infrastructure programming, such as enforcement and education. Each year around $500-600 million is available to states based on formulas and incentive grant eligibilities.

The most likely reason for not spending 405H funding is not being eligible. A state must have 15% or more of its traffic fatalities be people biking and walking in order to be eligible. Eligibility for 1906 funding is based upon having a qualifying program prohibiting racial profiling at the state level.
