Everett and Revere are ahead of equitable permitting targets as Brookline lags

Metro Mayors Coalition (MMC) municipalities' performance against equitable permitting targets between 2015-2024

The MMC's 185,000 housing target is a collective goal and municipalities did not publish individual targets for themselves. This analysis derived equitable targets by multiplying each community's portion of the MMC's total population by the MMC's annual target of 12,333. Brookline’s population accounts for approximately 3.7% of the 1.6 million residents in the MMC region, which translates to an annual target of 458. Through 2024, Brookline permitted 105 units per year, or 23% of its target.
