US electricity demand from industry (terawatt-hours/year)

Under current policies, annual US industrial electricity demand is forecast to grow 13% from 2025-50. Under a high emissions reduction scenario, annual electricity demand is forecast to grow 139% over the same period.

The high emissions reduction scenario reduces emissions in line with the nationally determined contribution under the Paris Agreement. It features a variety of industry policy assumptions, including a 100% shift from fossil fuels to a mix of electricity and hydrogen, varying by industrial potential for each fuel type, by 2050.
